TUSCALOOSA, AL — The University of Alabama, a dominant force in collegiate athletics, has officially formalized and extended its uniform and apparel partnership with Nike through the 2025 athletic year, securing one of the most visible and valuable branding commitments in the nation.
While the specifics of the current contract have often been subject to speculation, sources close to the university and the apparel giant confirm that the deal’s total value in cash, product, and licensing rights extends to approximately $63 million over the life of the agreement that runs through the end of the 2025 fiscal year.

The extension underscores the symbiotic relationship between the Crimson Tide’s unparalleled success—especially under legendary head coach Nick Saban—and Nike’s need to anchor its college football portfolio with a perennial national title contender.
A key feature of the agreement is the integration of the Jordan Brand into the football program’s gear rotation. While not a full shift to Jordan Brand for all sports—a rarity reserved for only a handful of elite programs—the deal includes custom Jordan-branded training gear, cleats, and player-exclusive apparel for the football team. This move solidifies Alabama’s prestige, aligning it with other marquee Nike-Jordan programs and enhancing its appeal to top-tier recruits.
“Alabama football is a premium brand, and our partnership with Nike, and the inclusion of the Jordan Brand, reflects that status,” said an Athletic Department representative. “This gear isn’t just about what they wear on Saturday; it’s a recruiting tool and a cultural statement.”
The financial structure of the contract provides a substantial revenue stream to the Athletic Department, which directly benefits all of Alabama’s sports programs. It is structured to provide millions in annual cash payments, complemented by an enormous volume of Nike apparel, equipment, and footwear for every sport.
Significantly, the initial contract included a substantial $5 million signing bonus. While this bonus has been allocated and utilized over the contract period, it represented a clear upfront commitment by Nike to secure the rights to the Alabama brand in an increasingly competitive apparel market. This type of high-value cash injection is critical for funding facilities upgrades, operational costs, and, indirectly, supporting the massive infrastructure built around Nick Saban’s dynasty.
The financial and branding stability provided by the Nike partnership was an essential, if often unheralded, element of the Saban era’s sustained excellence.
When the current partnership was initially signed and later extended, it ensured that the Crimson Tide’s athletes and coaches had access to the most advanced performance wear and equipment available. This commitment to having “the best of everything” became a foundational principle of the “Alabama Standard,” a cornerstone of Saban’s recruiting pitch and an operational advantage that consistently helped the program maintain its elite status.
The partnership coincided with a period of historic success for Alabama, which captured six national championships under Saban’s tenure (2009, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2020), cementing its status as the premier program in college football and generating massive global exposure for both the university and the Nike/Jordan brands.
