Immortalizing a Legend: Texas Softball Unveils Sample Statue of Star Mia Scott

Austin, TX – The Texas Longhorns Softball program has taken a significant step in enshrining one of its all-time greats, unveiling a sample statue of star third baseman Mia Scott. The statue, a tribute to her remarkable four-year career with the Longhorns, including the recent national championship victory, will be permanently erected in front of Red & Charline McCombs Field, the program’s stadium. Work on installing the statue is scheduled to commence in September 2025.

The unveiling ceremony, held on the University of Texas campus, was attended by university officials, athletic department staff, coaches, current and former teammates, and enthusiastic Longhorns fans. The sample statue offers a glimpse into the lasting tribute that will honor Scott’s exceptional contributions to the softball program. While details of the final design are yet to be fully released, the sample showcased a dynamic pose capturing Scott’s intensity and skill on the field, likely featuring her powerful stance at the plate or her signature glove work at third base.

“Today is a momentous occasion as we take the first step in permanently recognizing the incredible legacy of Mia Scott at Red & Charline McCombs Field,” said University of Texas Athletic Director Chris Del Conte during the ceremony. “Mia’s impact on our softball program is immeasurable. Her talent, her dedication, her leadership, and her pivotal role in bringing home our first national championship have cemented her place as one of the true legends of Texas Athletics. This statue will serve as a lasting reminder of her extraordinary achievements and the inspiration she has provided to countless Longhorns.”

Mia Scott, who recently concluded her stellar collegiate career, was present at the unveiling and expressed her deep gratitude for the honor. “I am truly humbled and incredibly honored by this gesture from the university and the softball program,” Scott said. “My four years at Texas have been the most rewarding experience of my life, and to know that my contributions will be remembered in this way is something I could have only dreamed of. I am so grateful to my coaches, my teammates, and the entire Longhorn Nation for their unwavering support.”

The decision to erect a statue of Mia Scott is a testament to her outstanding achievements and the profound impact she had on the Texas Softball program.
