Alabama reportedly finds new offensive line coach

In 2022, Adrian Klemm was the Oregon Ducks’ assistant head coach, offensive line coach, and run game coordinator.

Several sources indicate that Adrian Klemm will be hired by Alabama football to fill the open post of offensive line coach.

Chris Kapilovic, the program’s two-year position coach, was sacked on Friday.

Last season, Klemm worked as an offensive analyst for Southern Cal’s head coach, Lincoln Riley. Prior to that, he coached Bill Belichick’s offensive line for the New England Patriots in 2023, where his team allowed 48 sacks.

Klemm was the run-game coordinator and offensive line coach at Oregon during the 2022 campaign. Prior to that, he spent three seasons living in Pittsburgh, where he coached the Steelers in a variety of capacities.

Klemm is “one of the very best offensive line coaches in the country,” according to Oregon head coach Dan Lanning.

The seasoned coach has player experience as well. He was taken by New England with the 46th selection in the 2000 NFL Draft after playing college football at Hawaii and being good enough to start at left tackle in the Senior Bowl.

Klemm played for the Patriots for five years, making 26 appearances and starting ten of them. During his time playing in New England, he was a part of three teams that won the Super Bowl. In 2005, Klemm played his final season as a professional for the Packers, when he started eight games.

Former Steelers offensive lineman Chukwuma Okorafor, one of his former teammates, commended Klemm for his teaching and referred to him as “a mentor and a friend.”

He is concerned about the little things. I would describe it as passionate. He is not a very talkative person when you first meet him, but on the field, his enthusiasm is evident, and I believe he understands just when to apply the pressure,” Okorafor remarked.

The Alabama offensive line suffered greatly under Kapilovic in 2025, which prompted the possible hiring. Throughout the season, the unit occasionally struggled to protect quarterback Ty Simpson and hindered a run game with an abundance of running back skill.

Klemm’s job will be to help rebuild the offensive line completely. Michael Carroll, who assumed the right tackle position as a freshman last season, will be the team’s only returning starter going into 2026.

Along with the noteworthy transfer acquisitions of Ty Haywood (Michigan), Nick Brooks (Texas), and Jayvin James (Mississippi State), the remainder of the unit will be made up of returners with little to no sample sizes in Will Sanders and Jackson Lloyd.

After moving to Tuscaloosa, Klemm will have a lot of work ahead of him, but maybe his background as an offensive line coach and player can provide some consistency for the next year.
