Texas Tech University has announced a record-shattering fundraising year, securing an unprecedented $236 million in philanthropic commitments during the 2025 fiscal year (FY25). This monumental achievement, driven by the publicly launched “ON&ON: The Campaign for Texas Tech University,” represents the largest single-year fundraising total in the university’s history and signals a significant step toward its ambitious $1.2 billion campaign goal.
The record-breaking sum was contributed by 37,845 donors between September 2024 and August 2025, demonstrating widespread support from alumni, friends, and corporate partners. The success of FY25 has propelled the overall “ON&ON” campaign, which publicly launched in October 2024, to a total of over $915 million raised so far from more than 84,000 total donors.

The philanthropic investments are dedicated to advancing the four core priorities of the “ON&ON” campaign: Transform Lives, Fuel Academic Excellence, Elevate Campus & Community, and Build Champions.
The bulk of the new funding is directly impacting students. During FY25, more than $61 million was raised specifically for scholarships and student-athlete aid. This support led to the establishment of 139 new scholarship and aid funds, directly reducing financial barriers and increasing access to a Texas Tech education.
“Their belief in Texas Tech creates life-changing opportunities for our students,” said Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec. “It’s all about the kids. Generosity brings us closer to achieving our goal of becoming a preeminent university that attracts the brightest, hardest-working students.”
Significant portions of the funds are earmarked to enhance the university’s academic standing and research capabilities. Highlights include the creation of 129 new endowments to support various programs across the campaign’s priorities and the establishment of three new endowed academic positions, which will aid in recruiting and retaining top-tier faculty. Notable achievements include the funding for the John & Paige Bick Construction Engineering Technology Program and the establishment of the James E. White, AIA and John P. White, AIA Graduate Fellowship in the Huckabee College of Architecture.
The Red Raider community also saw a substantial investment in its future. More than $43.5 million was raised for community initiatives, underscoring the university’s commitment to improving lives in Lubbock and the broader West Texas region. This commitment to campus and community improvement is vital to the university’s mission.
FY25 also marked a record year for planned giving, with members of the Matador Society—which recognizes those who have made planned gifts—committing more than $80 million. The sheer volume of engagement was notable, too, with 5,854 first-time donors contributing and a record-setting performance during the 2025 Texas Tech Day of Giving.
“The generosity of our supporters has an immeasurable impact on every area of Texas Tech,” said Byron Kennedy, Vice President for Advancement. “It transforms the lives of our students, supports problem-solving research, elevates our campus, and helps propel our athletic1 teams.”
The “ON&ON” Campaign, launched with a total goal of $1.2 billion over eight years, is the university’s most ambitious fundraising effort to date. Having already crossed the $915 million mark, the historic FY25 total places Texas Tech well on track to reach its final target by the planned conclusion in Fall 2028. The funds will play a crucial role as Texas Tech continues to elevate its national standing and pursues its aspiration of becoming a top-tier research institution.
The university administration credits the broad-based philanthropic response as a resounding endorsement of Texas Tech’s mission and its vision for the future. The collective generosity is set to leave a lasting legacy that will continue “On & On” for generations of Red Raiders.
